PRELIMINARY
The meeting was
called to order at 11.00 a.m. by the Chairman and began by a
word of prayers by Sheikh Sukyan. The Chairman explained
that the meeting was necessitated by the concerns by the
grassroots leaders of the need to have an all-inclusive
ajuran community leaders/elders meeting to discuss on county
issues and opportunities afforded by the new Constitution.
He urged Ajuran leaders and professionals to promote unity
of purpose among the community and ensure the community is
sensitized on the governance structures in the new
constitution.
Hon. Gabbow
welcomeD the members to the venue and urged everyone to feel
free to ventilate issues before the meeting. He reiterated
that this is a time for the community leaders and
professionals to sacrifice personal interests and promote
unity of purpose among the community. He reiterated his full
support for community meetings both in Nairobi and in Wajir.

WAJIR CONFERENCE
·
It was resolved that the proposed Ajuran meeting titled:
Ajuran Meeting on National and County Governance shall
be held in Wajir on 23rd and 24th
July, 2011 as planned.
·
Any closed sub-clan meetings maybe held before the General
Ajuran meeting of 23rd/24th or even
thereafter.
2. THE
THEME AND TILE OF THE CONFERENCE.
Ø
The theme of the conference was agreed to be “To enhance
community participation in the National and County
governance in line with the provisions of the constitution”.
Ø
The title shall be: “Ajuran Meeting on National and
County Governance”.
3. STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES.
v
To sensitize the community’s leadership and professionals on
the provisions of the new Constitution.
v
To fully integrate the community in the national and county
governance structures.
v
To induct the community and build consensus on the sharing
of National and County portfolios.
v
To enhance effective
communication within and without the community.
v
To promote harmonious and
peaceful co-existence between the community and the
neighbouring communities.
v
To foster unity of purpose among the community and promote
national unity.
4. FORMATION OF A CO-ORDINATION COMMITTE.

The following members were
nominated to co-ordinate logistical issues in liaison
with the Wajir committee to ensure success of the
Ajuran Meeting on National and County Governance of 23rd
and 24th July, 2011.

5. Budget and
Funding
v
The Budget of Wajir conference and how it will be funded was
adopted as it was presented by the Wajir Committee without
amendments.

Constitution - spirit, Principles, values,
Provisions on elective position and Provisions of County
Government
It was resolved
that the above items shall be presented by Abdi Mohamud and
Mohamed Bulle .
ii)
Economic Empowerment
v
Shall be presented by Ahmed Maalim Omar
iii)
Social
Development
v
Shall be presented by Sheikh Sukyan.

up on the issues of
Wajir North boundaries with other constituencies before the
general AJ meeting to be held in Wajir and come up with a
comprehensive evidence based report rather than rumours and
hearsay evidence in order to set the record straight and
reverse the trends.
